The Concept
Neil Gaiman, the renowned author, has come up with a unique concept of creating a Calendar of Tales for the year 2024. In this project, he has given a prompt for each month, and people all around the world are invited to submit their short stories based on those prompts. The best stories will be selected and featured in the calendar.
The Prompts
The prompts for each month are as follows:
- January – A story about a person who can see the future, but only in their dreams.
- February – A story set in a world where the sun has disappeared.
- March – A story about a person who can talk to animals.
- April – A story set in a library where the books come to life at night.
- May – A story about a person who can see ghosts, but only in mirrors.
- June – A story set in a world where every person has a superpower, but they are all useless.
- July – A story about a person who can time-travel, but only for five minutes at a time.
- August – A story set in a town where it is always raining.
- September – A story about a person who can talk to inanimate objects.
- October – A story set in a world where every person is born with a birthmark that gives them a special ability.
- November – A story about a person who can enter other people’s dreams.
- December – A story set in a world where Christmas is celebrated in summer.
The Inspiration
Neil Gaiman has always been fascinated by the power of storytelling and the creativity of people around the world. With this project, he aims to bring together people from different cultures and backgrounds and create a platform for them to showcase their talent.
The Submission Process
Anyone can submit their stories to the Calendar of Tales project. The stories should be no longer than 500 words and should be submitted through the official website. The deadline for submissions is December 31st, 2023.
